2002 Honda CBR 600f4i

So long gone was the Interceptor… but I was itchin’ for another bike. A friend of mine bought a 2001 version of this bike (red & black, for anyone that cares). I debated it for a while and thought about it financially and finally impulsively bought one in Jan 2003 as a leftover from the dealer. I have always liked Honda silver, so had to get the silver version.

For anyone else keeping track, no the above picture isn’t stock paint. I dumped the bike one beautiful Saturday afternoon just riding around town at about 30mph. My shoulder suffered the worst of it, but the bike also had several thousand worth of silly cosmetic damage. Thanks to some cherry paint work from Factory Collision (Weymouth, MA), I got the sucker back!

Of course, nobody can keep a bike stock, so I added the can (Two Bros high mount) in the above picture. That was a loud can for that bike. Really crass at idle and low speeds.

This was on one of the first rides I ever took with the thing. I think it has around 200 miles on it here. You can also see a big difference between the stock colors and the nice paintwork après-oopsy-dropsy.

This was with the chrome windscreen. Lookey nicey.

I had the undertail and the air ducts sprayed a HUGE metal flake. Wasn’t really crazy about that when it was done, but whatever. It was sparkly!

This was on one of the last rides on the bike… after the wheels were chromed one winter. Should have had the forks done at the same time and maybe the rotors. But then where do you stop? The frame? Swingarm? Subframe?

This is the bike loaded in the back of one of my old trucks headed to its new owner.

New owner and a buddy with the bike in the back of the truck. I shed a tear on the way home. Not really, but I do miss the bike sometimes.
